Diabetes can attack Various Vital Organs In your Body

Diabetic Coma:

Diabetic Coma is when a person goes into a coma from having high blood sugar, and becomes extremely dehydrated. It happens to older people usually 60 and above, because they have a changing sense of how they react to being thirsty. Most people who come down with Diabetic Coma already know they have diabetes, but some have not yet realized they have it, and never have sought treatment for it. Usually the person has been having the following symptoms for weeks, excessive thirst, and there normal pattern of urination has greatly increased. The massive amount of water loss due to the frequent urination, and higher glucose level in the blood stream lead to severe dehydration. Which now spreads through out the body, including the cells which now become dehydrated? The massive loss of body water can lead to shock, coma, and eventually death, where the percentage can be as high as 50%. People who have the highest risk, are seriously ill or physically challenged patients.

Can Diabetic Coma Be Prevented?

The first thing to remember is Diabetic Coma is not a disease, but a symptom of a disease, or a result of the failure to keep your diabetes under control. When you have been diagnosed with either Type 1 or type 2 diabetes both are considered incurable, but both are able to be treated.

The most common way both can be treated is as follows:

· Always keep a close watch on your glucose level by checking it often enough for any changing situation due to personal or environment conditions. (Note: always check with your Doctor about how often you should check it.)

· Use a combination of approved diabetes diet and exercise programs, approved by your Doctor before you change them.

· Take your diabetes medicine exactly the way the Doctor has prescribed ( Pay extra attention to take it precisely the way he told you to ) and don’t change anything without getting prior approval from your doctor before you make any changes.

· If you notice anything that has changed or is different ( excessive thirst, chills, sweating, weakness, confused state, seek medical attention. )

Diabetes can cause extreme damage to your heart, eyes, kidneys, can affect nearly every organ in your body, and cause various other problems . If you let it get out of control it can cause death, so manage it 24/7.
